Malware Problems
Is a virus affecting the performance of your laptop? Have you a Trojan stealing your data? Are unwanted pop up adware annoying you? These are just a few examples of what malware can do to your computer and these are
obviously situations that you want to avoid at all costs.
Anti-virus and anti-malware programmes
There are a large number of anti-virus programmes available to use on your computer. There are two main deciding factors on which on you choose, a free or a paid option and whether the programme is
easy to use. There is no 100% virus or malware proof solution. There are new viruses everyday that anti-virus programmes may not detect for weeks and in some cases malware has gone undetected for years.
Regular Scanning
When you have installed your chosen anti-virus programme you must configure it to scan your computer regularly automatically. If not you need to rememeber to run manual scans at regular intervals to ensure
your laptop or PC remains secure from unwanted and annoying malware.
Regular virus scanning isn't always enough
It takes time for anti-virus companies to find viruses, and to learn how to remove or stop the virus or trojan. If your computer is not performing as it should, it may need to be analysed in detail to see
what may be running in the background. For example a keylogger could be tracking your passwords, a trojan application could be quietly stealing personal information and sending that information to
cyber criminals. If you think that your computer is infected then you should get it checked out as soon as possible.
